Service Types

Green Montana Recycling does both residential and commercial service.

We pick up weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, or seasonally. We adapt to your needs.

We provide you with a bin to place your items in. You do not need to sort your items. You put everything in the bin and our driver will sort it out. If you accidently put in something that we cannot recycle we will place it back in the bin. If you have questions about what we left in the bin you are always welcome to contact us.

Our Values

Because we are a family company, we have simple values. Honesty and transparency in our dealings is important to us. We have partnered with Valley Recycling in Kalispell so that we can make sure that the items we take from your home or office is truly recycled - not taken to a landfill. We encourage you to call them and verify this fact.

Communication is vital to us. Feel free to ask us questions or reach out to us if your needs change. If we have to make changes due to weather or some other unforeseen circumstances we will let you know. Join our Facebook page or check this website for the latest news.

What We Take

Clear Plastics

Clear plastic bottles

We only take clear or transparent bottle-type plastic. If you can see through it and it has a 1 or 2 on it, we can take it. At this time we cannot take clam shells or heavily colored plastic.

Aluminum Cans

Single aluminum can

Aluminum cans, such as soda cans, must be empty and rinsed out. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot accept tin cans (such as the ones for vegetables.

Cardboard

Cardboard box, not broken down

Cardboard must be broken down and placed in the bin. If it does not fit please stack it neatly next to the bin. If it is raining or snowing we request that you thrown a garbage bag over the stack. Wet cardboard can contaminate the load of recycling.

Paper

Office paper

When it comes to paper, we love it all! Junk mail, magazines, newspapers, and computer paper! If you have shredded paper we request that you have it bagged so it doesn't blow away.

Why Don't We Take Glass?

We wish we could! However, there is not a glass recycling processor in the Flathead Valley. The cost to ship or transport the glass is high, we want to keep our prices affordable. Please check out the Montana Department of Enviromental Quality website for the entire story or give us a call for more information.

How We Do It

If you see our drivers outside of your home or office with their trailer doors open, this is why. To maintain efficiency and keep costs down, our drivers sort while doing their route. We must sort the recycling so we can deliver it to Valley Recycling.  Plastic, paper, and cardboard are put in separate sections of the trailer. Some drivers and another place for the aluminum cans, while others have a bin in the back of their pickups.

Recycling in Montana has challenges that are not seen in other states.  We have a large geographical area but a fairly low population density. Because of this it is difficult to attract the needed infrastructure for recycling that other states have.

Knowledge is Power

Recycling is a challenge in Montana. The state's comparatively low population is cattered over a large geographic area. Compounding the issue is the distance to processors (industry) that use the recyclables as raw materials in their operations. The Montana Department of Environmental Quality is working hard to help citizens, businesses, and local and state agencies find solutions to make it easier and more affordable to recycle.
